When SPAM takes on a whole new meaning

I’m flying to Taiwan on Wednesday and I’m going to be back on Sunday. I’m up late because I promised the kids I would cook their school lunches in advance, for the three schooldays that I won’t be here to get up at 6.00 a.m. for the usual bleary-eyed cooking.

When Speedy came home today, he asked if I had started packing. I said… ummm, a bit. The kikay kits are packed but I haven’t started with the clothes. Still trying to decide where the camera and lenses, and my Macbook will go. I have to bring them along.

I may not be all that ready yet but Speedy sure is. No, he’s not coming with me. Cooking dinner will be his chore for five days and he’s all prepared.

Tada… SPAM in five flavors, one for each of the days that I won’t be home.

SPAM

He even proudly showed me a recipe on the back of one of the cans of SPAM.

SPAM

Like it’s a sign that SPAM, Speedy and cooking go naturally together.

P.S. Oh, wait! There’s a kilo of hotdogs in the freezer too. He insisted.

Raqgold, sa panlasa ko, pare-pareho lang eh.

    “Trip” lang, Jon. hehehe

I don’t envy them, Cristianne, hahahaha.

Hinay-hinay lang sa processed meats which are high in salt and other preservatives.

  8. rhodora says:

Hahaha! Connie! Mapupurga sina Sam at Alex! At parang sinadya pa yung Speedy recipe ! Hahaha!

Have a good time, Connie! You deserve to be away from your kitchen once in a while. I’m sure Speedy can take care of the Spam.. Ay naku, di ako talaga makatigil sa katatawa. LOL!

  9. rolly says:

Punta kang Taiwan? Baka magbugbugan na naman sila sa Congress nila, wag kang makikialam ha.

  11. Jane says:

    Hahahahahaha!!!!

Kala ko pa naman Speedy is as talented as you in the kitchen department! Actually, I love spam. With rice or with pandesal. But 3x a day? No way! I buy the low-sodium kind already these days.

So you’re freezing the lunches of your kids good for 3 days, huh? And Speedy just has to reheat them in the morning for the kids to bring to school? Neat! But bet you, they will all be only to glad to see you on Sunday! Bon voyage!

  12. noemi says:

happy trip connie. Enjoy yourself. Nakatawa naman si speedy. Hehe, Spam!! I am sure he will do just fine as the home maker of the week.

  13. dexie says:

awww, poor babies . you should take Speedy for a vacation in Hawaii someday. They take their SPAM there seriously. Lot’s of other flavors and even MacDonald’s have it in their breakfast menu.

  14. dexie says:

Ooooops I forgot. Have a safe and fun trip in Taiwan :)

  15. julie says:

Ay, didn’t know there are flavors for Spam. Maybe they would order food to be delivered or Speedy would bring home food because the girls would be complaining about it, :D

    Take care, Connie.

  16. Connie says:

Salamat, salamat. Salamat din at na cute-an kayo sa gimmick ng asawa ko hahahahahaha

Tito Rolly, binanggit mo pa kasi… nagka-idea tuloy ako hahahaha

  17. JMom says:

  19. Rowena says:

hi connie. have a safe trip.

  20. omski says:

Weird, I really thought you are talking about “SPAM” as in spamming in the computer lingo and you were to attend a seminar about it in Taiwan…till I got to the next page and saw the different flavors of SPAMs…;-) anyways, have a nice trip! di ba bad for health yang too much spams?…

  21. chateau says:

Hey Connie! You and hub are in Taiwan on the exact same dates LOL di kaya pareho kayo ng flights? He’s there on accidental vacation hehe.. You take care and enjoy!
i did not know too that Spam had so many variants hehe.. WTG, Speedy!

  22. SexyMom says:

same here with Speedy, if my mom is away, SPAM is the answer to m rescue, plus home delivery stuff.

same here, too, i pack at the last minute, like if i am to leave the house at 10 am for the airport, you will find me still packing at 7 am. most times in the past i would be cramming with my work, that packing is last. that’s history now, thanks to early retirement.

if ever i would do any packing for a trip–it will now be for a leisurely trip.

    have a safe trip, dear!

  23. Connie says:

Announcement: They only opened two cans of Spam while I was away. LOL Nagluto si Speedy!!!!

Kongkong, I have to name 5 moms too?

  24. Kongkong says:

    gusto, name mo ko uli…hehehe

  25. Rach says:

Hi Connie. Hope you’re enjoying your trip.

My son loves SPAM especially for breakfast. He likes the original one but we often buy SPAM Lite. We tried the Garlic and Cheese flavor before but I’m more fond of the regular one.

  26. Connie says:

Kongkong, utang muna ha. Am moving to a new server. Dedicated server na ulit.

Rach, it was a good trip pero and INIT dun, terible. It’s Sunday (Speedy’s turn to cook) and we had SPAM for dinner hehehe
