The evening news, some two years ago

This video has been in YouTube for over two years having been originally uploaded in February of 2007. I’ve never seen it until a fellow lawyer shared it in Facebook. It really redefines news reporting.

What I don’t know is whether it was aired in the interest of balanced news reporting or to provide entertainment. Note that it was aired in an evening news program.

  1. For entertainment, of course. What I don’t get is how reporters get to interview alleged suspects. Can police authorities parade suspects (or even give away information) in front of reporters?

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or does that phrase doesn’t apply to our system because it takes forever to procedurally prove anyone guilty kaya dinadaan na lang sa trial-by-publicity?

Aside. I think that reporter is that the same Michael Fajatin in this video.

    • Re “Can police authorities parade suspects”

They shouldn’t but they follow examples set by their superiors who like parading suspects in more serious and controversial cases. In fact, high ranking police officers and the NBI even call press conferences to present suspects who are made to stand in a line behind them.
