Who’s heard of Henry Enfield?

by Connie Veneracion on October 7, 2008

We have BBC in our Dream satellite subscription but I have never seen the “Harry and Paul” show. In fact, I’ve never heard of Henry Enfield until today and only because the show has the become the subject of an official protest by the Philippine government.
The scene, first broadcast on 26 September, was part of [...]

Discovery, not the channel

by Connie Veneracion on September 25, 2008

Remember that commercial where Mike Mikee Cojuangco says that Dream service is “Anytime, anywhere”? It was never true. Even with the recent system upgrade, Dream satellite broadcast is still interrupted when it gets cloudy. Considering the amount of clouds and rains we’ve been getting during the past couple of days, it means when there’s a [...]

Entertain me

by Connie Veneracion on September 16, 2008

You’d think that with dozens of cable channels to choose from, one would never run of television entertainment. You’d think that with the number of movies that premiere each week, there will at least be one winner that will be remembered, talked about, dissected and debated over coffee, wine or beer. “Hellboy 2″ put me [...]

Bringing Up Baby and The Baby Borrowers

by Connie Veneracion on January 16, 2008

When I read about the controversy surrounding two parenting (sic) shows in the UK, my first instinct was to check Auee’s blog to see if she had posted her thoughts about it. See, she’s my source for anything and everything UK. I don’t think Bringing Up Baby and The Baby Borrowers are aired in the [...]

A legal drama called ‘Damages’

by Connie Veneracion on January 13, 2008

Not since Murder One have I gotten this excited over a TV legal drama series. From the day I first saw the trailer of Damages on AXN, I memorized the date of the premiere. At 10.00 p.m. of January 8th, I tucked a very sick Sam in bed and set out to watch the pilot [...]

On December 15th, Saturday, our cat Pepper will appear in Jessica Soho’s program on GMA Channel 7. The show will start at 9.00 p.m. but Pepper will not be on for the entire hour. She isn’t that famous. Yet. LOL
Smile, Pepper, you’re a star!

Yayas (nannies) and TV shows

by Connie Veneracion on August 30, 2007

I was browsing HEdCen.Com and found an announcement about a workshop for yayas (nannies). One of the topics is choosing appropriate (media) shows. I’m still trying to find out if the workshop is open to the public or if it’s exclusive to yayas of HEdCen students.
I had to smile when I read about the yaya [...]

The most annoying TV food host is Rachael Ray

by Connie Veneracion on August 2, 2007

We’re a Dream Satellite subscriber (nothing else available in our area) and Dream does not have the Lifestyle network nor Food TV channel. What food shows we see are the ones on Travel & Living Channel. That means we get Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Anthony Bourdain, Floyd-whats-his-name, David Rocco, the Surreal Gourmet, Surfing the Menu… [...]

Michigan vs. Sharee Miller

by Connie Veneracion on November 9, 2006

Came across Fatal Error (HBO) and I forgot that I intended to go to bed after the kids left for school. The best part came at the end of the movie just before the credits–it was based on a true story. According to some sites, the film was supposed to have been retitled Fatal Desire [...]

“Twenty”: well-conceptualized?

by Connie Veneracion on October 23, 2006

A few days ago, I saw singer Regine Velasquez on TV airing some “gripes” against those who criticized her Twenty concert. She said she wouldn’t feel so bad IF the critics had bothered watching the concert before lambasting it, or something to that effect.
I was curious. When I caught the televised concert while waiting for [...]
