I use to live in Cainta and have always dreamt of living in Antipolo. I always had that notion that it's more quiet and much simpler. Another reason was that the former mayor never did anything to atleast, promote Cainta, much less fix the traffic and the floods. Now I'm a bit happy with their new Mayor, Mon Ilagan. Things have improved, but he coudn't stay away from those M.I. logos. Too bad because I always think that public officials who rub their initials on the faces of their constituents, are stupid because they think it can make up for their inefficiencies / incompetence.

I currently have a small restaurant in Antipolo, SIZZLIN'Opia. We serve steak meals and other meal dishes with soup, vegetable, garlic rice on a sizzling plate at P30 - P85. The place has a " Boracayish " feel to it. Anyway, I feel the " palakasan " factor settling in already. The establishments around me are owned by prominent families ( we're located infront of SEISHA Coffee house, near circumferential road ). Infact we rent our place from a prominenet family, the licos. It seems that my small business, which just started 3 months ago will have a difficult time to pick up, or much worse, close down even before it reaches 6 months because of the " palakasan ." If politicians here are logo consciuos, I would assume that they are more likely to be power conscious...

I have always been against names of politicians (even of private donors) being printed on the item that they have given. It's tacky, aesthetically awful, and turns charity into another PR stunt. And when public money is used, it is a glaring example of corruption; it is literally plastered all around us: in bridges, ambulances, MRT station, hospitals, waiting sheds, cars, baranggay tricycles, I have yet to see a manhole covers with their names on it.

I used to think that Party List representatives is of a different league. But no. I saw a government vehicle in downtown Manila with a name of one of they party list peeps...

My goodness.

Those initials and pictures of them politicos really show poor taste. I remember last Christmas, even the parols were not spared! What is even more disgusting is that, as you said, WE pay for these things. I really wish they would all stop that. But I guess that's wishful thinking...

Even Presidents do that. When Ramos was President, there were no pothole in Pangasinan. With Gloria, it's Pampanga.
