If you’re not a brave person, read no farther.
If you think that gore has no place in an ideal world — which probably means you are NOT a CSI fan — read no farther.
There is nothing artificial about this photo. It has not been digitally altered in any way. This is nature, albeit that part we often try to avoid.

You didn’t really think I was talking about death, did you? With a title like “On the kitchen cabinet”, I couldn’t have been.
The little frog has semi-transparent feet that look jelly-like. Of course, I didn’t realize that until I downloaded the photos. No way I would have inspected it that close.

Excluding the length of the legs, from head to the tip of the torso, it’s smaller than a teaspoon. I had to make sure that it was really asleep before attempting to position the teaspoon beside it at baka tumalon sa akin, eh, takot ko la’ng. ![]()

that’s what they call palakang saging. i have been inhabited by one of those once in the soundness of my sleep. natakot ako kase patay ang ilaw at pag-galaw ko, saktong nahawakap ko. hahaha. nakikitulog pala sa kama.
Connie Veneracion 11.25.07 at 7:06 pm
Wow, Jon, so he went… I wanted to but the weekend we were free was after the frog festival already. Don’t care much for the parade and games but the cooking contest would have been wonderful to experience.
kotsengkuba, ah so yun pala anf palakang saging. We see a lot of frogs were but the most common, aside from the horny toads, are the ones with webbed feet. It’s my first time to see s frog with these jelly-like feet.

one time, attend kami seminar kasama counterparts namin sa visayas. nung gabi na, gusto nila mag-unwind, pumasok sila sa isang bar at nood lang ng show while drinking beer. after several drinks, nung malapit na sila matapos, pagdukot nila ng ice sa bucket, meron silang nakita na palaka kasama ng ice nila. patay na yung frog siempre.

Eto ang downside of living in the `burbs.

Oh god, I nearly died when I saw your photo. I’m a major frog-phobic, can’t stand them, and even gave away a Fendi bag that reminded me of a toad.

… i was removing a christmas decor from the kisame sa porch ng haus namin, siyempre nakatingala ako. ng bigla ba naman may tumalon na small froggy from the decor at tumalon sa mukha ko. sus ginoo! buti na lang di umihi at hindi ako naka-nganga! eww!
Jon Limjap 11.26.07 at 10:27 am
Kongkong,
Mas kaya kong i-take ang palaka kaysa sa ipis.
Connie Veneracion 11.26.07 at 10:53 am
jenb, we have those too. and the darn things eat off the cats’ feeding bowls. hahahhaa
Mila, talk about the power of suggestion ha!
bem, that happened to me but it was a lizard. dunno which sucks worse — frog or lizard.

Frogs! We live with frogs. hahaha. During rainy season, they just invade the house. I don’t know where they are coming from. I think there’s one nga at the back of our house - doon na pinanganak at lumaki.
But I wonder though - are frogs - like rats - disease carriers too?
Connie Veneracion 11.26.07 at 3:02 pm
Rhodora, back in the city, because part of the property was vacant and got inundated during the rainy season, we could hear “frog symphonies” at night. Grabe, as in symphony talaga.
I don’t know if they carry diseases. I don’t think so. Unless we count the “wart” stories which are myths.

Eeeewwww! I am scared! I’d prefer it (him?) meatier, skinned and sauteed with onions and garlic. hehehe…
My 4-year old son, on the other hand, would love to get a hold of this creature and possibly pet it.
I should think frogs in general are cleaner than rats. Their habitat is swamps and damp places in the garden. As for rats, they forage for “bulok” things and hang out in garbage dumps.

As in nilulundag nila para mahuli. I just can’t believe it at first kasi yung mga cousin ko who were born here kapag nagpupunta ng Pinas talagang nagkakagalis dahil lang sa kagat ng lamok so i thought walang insects dito.

Ay! kakagulat to see something like that in your cabinet. But I have to say, cute ang frog, huwag lang tatalon papunta sa iyo
Bing 11.27.07 at 6:38 pm
eeewwww! i don’t like frogs talaga! especially the green ones… buti na lang nakita mo Ms. Connie eh kakulay kaya ng cabinet mo. And its a good thing din na frog yan hindi snake…on weekends we go to Bulacan and we have a house there just right beside a rice field. When I opened our storage room I thought I saw a black belt on top of one of the boxes there. Tapos biglang gumalaw! When I opened the lights OMG! It’s a snake! You hit them on the head.
Connie Veneracion 11.28.07 at 8:08 pm
Mega Mom, me too, I prefer them cooked and UNABLE to leap hehehehe
At akala ko malaki na lamok dito sa Antipolo kasi definitely twice the size of mosquitoes in the city.
Julie, the big ones — the toads — eeewww kahit tingin lang kadiri pa rin.
Bing, a snake like the one caught by our cat? wag matakot, picture lang… hehehe
