The MMLDC compound may look prohibiting from its entrance gate along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo, but it is the friendliest place, really–just tell the guards you want to go inside. They won’t put you through the usual irritating security checks. Ask and they will direct you to wherever you want to go. In our case, the Areva Pavillion for a late lunch (link to the food review). After our meal, we asked the waiter where the aviary was. We were given general directions and assured it wasn’t such a long walk. We decided to leave the car in the parking lot and proceeded to the aviary on foot. It was such a lovely walk under fruit trees (mangoes literally falling to the ground) and lots of grass. These are some of the birds at the aviary.
The macaw–colorful, very noisy and so difficult to photograph. They flew around too much.

What a wonderful way to spend the day. The birds are just so beautiful and your pictures are so clear. With your permission, I intend to download and use them as models to paint a few of them. May I??

Thank you for your kind offer. The colorful Macaw’s are definite. Also the totally yellow Parakeet (page 3) and the yellow Parakeet with black and yellow design on it’s wings, (page 4). The Victoria Crown Pigeon is a real beauty, I love it’s fan shaped crown, they look just like an artist fan brush. It’s crown will pose a challenge to paint.
I love to paint flowers and painting these colorful birds is similar.
