I really don’t know where the color lavender ends and the color lilac begins. I’ve always referred to these as my lavender gumamela. We have two varieties, the smaller ones that we bought in Los Baños, Laguna, years ago, and the bigger ones with overlapping petals from a cutting given by Jay and Jet David about two Christmases ago. The following photos are flowers from that cutting.

Nice pix! The gumamela on the right is lilac while the one on the left is lavender. Lilac has a more reddish tint (similar to mauve) whereas lavender is more bluish - in the violet spectrum of colors.

Abaaa… at buhay pa pala ang lavander gumamela mo ha. Kamusta na kaya yung samen?
Have you made cuttings from that original one? You could plant it all over your yard and have several from that one cutting. Ganda ng lavander gumamela no?

Al, ah I see. I always wondered where mauve fit in. I think I like lilac better than lavender then.
Jay, we put the plant where it only gets morning sun. Ayaw yata nya talaga ng sun the whole day. Salamat ulit. Talagang showpiece pa rin.
Jet, pinapataba ko pa yung trunk. Takot ako mag-cut baka magtampo. hehehehe

you can search the manila seedling bank at Quezon Avenue. they sell the gumamelas there from time to time.

Nakabili ako last Sat., 8 Sept. sa Orchid show sa QC compound, 1 lila and 1 white (double petals) @P50.00 each. (mura ano) May collection na ako - yellow, yellow orange, red, pink, orange (cute sila)
