Feast Asia on print

If you know of anyone who is an opinion columnist and a lifestyle columnist at the same time, please let me know so I can wipe this silly smile off my face thinking I’m the first.

congrats! to answer your question, i don’t think there’s one right now. but there was a time when ambeth ocampo also had a lifestyle column in addition to his opinion column.

    • Talaga? I know he had — has — an op-ed column but I didn’t know he wrote for lifestyle too. Would you remember the name of his lifestyle column?

      • vonjobi says:

“(h)istorya” was the title, basically on history, and another one on religion that got “censored” by religious authorities, so it didn’t last very long. this was in 1998 when interest in history was very high. my feeling is that your new column will last longer kasi even if i don’t understand why (maybe because i don’t cook? hehe), food and cooking seem to be very popular subjects on tv, print and the internet. congrats ulit!

        • Wow, I’d like to read those religion columns that got censored hehehe But it’s really surprising that they would be published in the lifestyle pages. I hope they’re preserved on microfilm.

    Congratulations!

Somehow, I’m not surprised. You’re truly a Renaissance woman.

You know what, you have inspired me to do one thing for myself: always enjoy what I do for a living. It’s refreshing to see someone do something they enjoy and nothing they don’t. :)

    Congratulation!

    (Please keep this private…just kidding)

Really proud of you; congratulations ulit!

Congratulations Connie. You’re really an asset for MS. There was a time when I also wrote a food column for your paper where I opted not to have my name on it. Somewhere along the way, I faltered coz I couldn’t sustain it. Also, I got around to thinking about it and decided that blogging was the more advanced platform.

I don’t know if things have changed now but the lifestyle beat is known among the traditional media for having the most number of junkets, freebies and free lunches ~ the very same things which are accorded bloggers now.

This is just my two cents on the matter, no hyperventilating please, hehe. But I know you’ll make a difference since you’ve always written your articles independently without fear and, ahem, “favor.” :P

    • LOL Ajay, thank you. And I rarely hyperventilate these days. hehehe Alam mo, I’ve always treated column writing as “blogging on print” except that I have editors to correct my tenses and spelling and typos. So I don’t think there need be any substantial changes with how I currently produce content. Basta luto lang nang luto ng ulam hehehehe

  11. Thank you, THANK YOU ALL. :)
