Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking (JMSU)
By Connie Veneracion on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 5:43 pm in China, Lower House, Senate, Spratly, United States, Vietnam
A tripartite agreement among the Philippines, China and Vietnam allows joint seismic exploration of the Spratly Islands, subject of a long territorial dispute. Objections include possible violation of Constitutional ban against natural resources exploration by foreigners. Lots of uproar. Both Senate and Lower House want probes.
Drilon says the U.S. is pissed. Why, I wonder. Because it felt left out? Like, nothing’s supposed to happen unless the U.S. says so? And so what, really, if the U.S. is pissed? Like, we’re supposed to quiver with fear with every displeasure? ![]()
