I saw its ad on TV and I promised myself I’d check out the website of a project against online child pornography.
The innocent victims of Internet child abuse cannot speak for themselves.
But you can.
With your help, we can eradicate this evil trade.
We do not need your money.
We need you to light a candle of support.
We’re aiming to light at least One Million Candles by December 31, 2006.
This petition will be used to encourage governments, politicians, financial institutions, payment organisations, Internet service providers, technology companies and law enforcement agencies to eradicate the commercial viability of online child abuse.
They have the power to work together. You have the power to get them to take action.
Please light your candle at lightamillioncandles.com or send an email of support to light@lightamillioncandles.com.
Together, we can destroy the commercial viability of Internet child abuse sites that are destroying the lives of innocent children.
Kindly forward this email to your friends, relatives and work colleagues so that they can light a candle too.
I’ve lit my candle; I hope you will too.

I’ve lit a candle, but other than being symbolic, I don’t see how it’s actually DOING anything to help solve this problem.

Frances, the number of signatures will be used to petition the various authorities that have jurisdiction over internet affairs, including the US Congress where a lobby is planned. It’s in the website. The million signatures is supposed to show that child porn on the net is a global concern and people are not being apathetic to the issue. so, it isn’t mere symbolism.

I am a very big supporter of this campaign. I think it’s also imperative for everyone to familiarize themselves with NCMEC’s Cybertipline which allows you to report suspicious behavior online.

Hi, its sickening to see these sites proliferate. Probably the problem need be tackled at the core where these things originate. We all must put our hands together to stop this chrime. There are hundreds of websites publishing the material. Plz do something before it gets worse.
