Getting rid of cat fleas

by Connie Veneracion on April 24, 2007

It was a sad day when we discovered that Salt and Pepper had fleas. A few fleas may not harm a cat but too many may cause anemia.

cat and kitten flea and tick powder and shampoo

Within a few hours of the discovery of fleas, my husband bought Sergeant’s Skip-Flea & Tick Shampoo and Bayer’s Carbamate Bay-o-pet powder.

The shampoo is applied to the wet cat and worked into its fur. The lather must be left on for a few minutes for best results. The shampoo can only be used every two weeks.

The powder is sprinkled on the fur once a week.

Fortunately, the fleas were gone after using the powder and shampoo once. But we’re taking precautions by using the shampoo every two weeks and the powder once a week.

Have you tried the Frontline spot-on? It’s applied once a month.
