Fried fish, egg and rice: the classic Filipino breakfast

I don’t enjoy my bangus (milkfish) unless it comes with the belly. To be more precise, the fat in the belly. I’ve been scouring the web for health information on bangus belly fat and found nothing. There is an article in Medscape Today, however, that mentions a study that says fish fat may help fight against Alzheimer’s Disease.

The traditional version of this classic fish, egg and rice breakfast uses bangus marinated in vinegar, garlic, salt and chili peppers. I find it too strong for breakfast. I prefer the fish lightly salted with lots of freshly ground pepper. That makes me appreciate the garlic fried rice better because no strong flavors compete.

This sounds amazing! I have never tried garlic fried rice–well, or bangus to be honest–but it all looks so good.
Hope you get to try it soon.
The Filipino garlic fried rice is one of “to die for food”, well not really – you know what I mean. It’s the smell that wakes me up every Sunday morning. Our other daughter’s American friend always request it from my wife when she is in town, staying overnight with us.
Try adding chopped basil. To die for twice over LOL
