Dill flowers

dill flowers are small and white

Dill is an herb. GardenGuides.com says the botanical name is Anethum graveolens while Botanical.com says it is Peucedanum graveolens. Whatever. Dill is so easy to grow. Sturdy too–mine survived typhoon Milenyo.

Dill flowers are small and white. They don’t usually droop like they do in the photos but these were taken after a downpour. They fly… well, I thought I’d take the photos with the fly so you’d get an idea just how tiny the dill flowers are.

hello, ms. sassy! it’s been awhile since i posted a comment, but trust me i remain an avid daily reader. you are part of my daily ritual. just a quick question: how do you cultivate dill and keep it all perky and blooming? I do not know much about herbs until they they reach my kitchen door. in your grdening experience, how did it fare on the hot summer months? my sister is intrerested in expanding her herb garden and would love some practical information. let me know.

They smell sweet, Sidney. :)
Sam, I bought mine in a small pot lasy year. It thrived all throughout the summer and the rainy season. It is now about three and half feet tall. I don’t know if it’s relevant but I planted it where it only gets the morning sunlight.

thanks for the tip. the yard right outside her kitchen will be a perfect spot then, facing east, and shaded from harsh midday sun. have you ever tried steaming tuna steaks or fillet with a few drops of olive oil, sea salt, freshly cracked pepper, topped with dill sprigs. it’s a sinful friday dish! squeeze some lime or lemon over it, and enjoy.

p.s.:glad to know you are reclaiming your productive routine after the storm’s wrath ;).

Sam, re “have you ever tried steaming tuna steaks…”

Not tuna but salmon. Ahhh… heaven LOL

I kinda went on a withdrawal during the storm, not having internet and all. So I guess I’m back with a vengeance

hi. i read in your sassy lawyer blog that you bought an olympus cam for your hubby’s birthday. i’m looking for digicam and when i checked the features, it seems like that cam was also made for me =) that’s why i’d like to ask how much is the market price, if it lives up to (y)our expectations, the pros and cons of owning that cam, and if you could email me sample pics (particularly pics taken underwater). my sisters and i are the outdoors kind of people, we like going on trips to the beach, the mountains, etc., and we were loking for a cam that is both functional (on land and sea), sturdy (can handle the elements), and of course produces high-quality pictures. thank you very much and just love reading your no-nonsense, tell-it-as-it-is blog.

juliet, the cam is great. one drawback–on low light settings, the photos turn out to be grainy. i’ll e-mail you links to photos my husband took with his cam that i have posted on the other photo blog. :)
