December 22 is Global Orgasm Day

When I found the URL in Ananova, I thought it was a joke. It isn’t. A couple think they can achieve world peace through synchronized orgasm.

The proponents’ goal is to add so much concentrated and high energy positive input on the world’s energy field to reduce aggression and violence. The site says that the combination of high orgasmic energy and mindful intention may have a greater effect than mass prayers. That’s why participants are asked to think about peace during and after orgasm.

The event has a blog where one entry says:

I can understand how the connection between sexuality and the problems of the human race might seem tenuous, frivolous or in bad taste. But when you understand that most male human behavior, from violence and war to generosity and kindness, is a form of sexual display, the whole perspective changes. What better way to bring attention to, and perhaps make less acceptable, the kinds of displays that are threatening us and every other organism on the planet than the root cause of all the displays - the orgasm?

Global Orgasm Day has gotten substantial press coverage. The comments in the blog are sometimes hilarious and sometimes amazing as skeptics, critics and believers share their opinions.

Okay, so the earth-shaking day is December 22nd. I wonder if we will feel the earth move under our feet. :)

Sassy, things will be a lot stickier from Dec. 22 onwards. But I think it’s honest to god time we had something like this in simultaneous act. Certainly can’t hurt, can it? ;-)
