A chapel with no statues of saints
In a country where almost every town, city and municipality has at least one church, it is rare to find one where there is none of the usual ostentatious display of statues of saints garbed in rich velvets, silks and laces. At the chapel of the Sampaguita Gardens Resort in Aklan, the walls are painted with murals depicting Bible stories instead, often featuring Precious Moments figures. The owner, Precious Moments creator Sam Butcher, isn’t Catholic so that should explain a lot of things.
