Cooking instructions
By Connie Veneracion on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 8:08 am in cooking, food, Speedy
One of the more popular recipes in my food blog is cassava bibingka with custard topping.

Speedy says the recipe is all wrong. And he has said this more than once — there isn’t enough custard. He said it again today.

Left photo: “The bibingka should be this thin.”
Right photo: “The custard should be THIS thick.”
Told him more than once too that it was impossible — the custard would break and fall apart if it were THAT thick.
So, he supplemented the instructions: “Use cling wrap to shore up the sides of the custard to prevent it from falling apart. Use toothpicks to keep the wrap in place if you need to.”
My husband is such an amazing cook, really.

Seems like Speedy have some great ideas. You should let him do it. I am sure it will be heavenly delicious. I’ll have a capuccino with that.

thanks Connie for the recipe of cassava bibingka. i will definitely try this one of these days and might even experiment if the thicker custard is doable.

I want to go back to the Philippines and be a cook. Hahaha, Coney mukhang tine-take-over na ni Speedy ang blog and skills mo. Yesterday, the sunset in Galera and now the recipes. ![]()

Just like Speedy, my wife does all the cooking at home. But I am the official tester, especially when it comes to desserts. I brew the coffee in the morning, plus the cafe con leche or cappuccino any time of the day or night. I also do the bar-b-que. I guess all (?) or most engineers are like that.

well, my husband doesn’t cook but he’s the critic. When i have new recipes, he’s the one giving me the thumbs up or down. I guess that’s their job! But, lol! who cares? as long as it tastes great! Happy Mother’s Day, Connie!
