Sam was in school when she started sending me a barrage of text messages asking for permission. I set my conditions to which she tearfully agreed. Well, either she did or she could just forget all about him. The biggest surprise was that Speedy was just as excited as Sam. Unbelievable.
On Sunday evening, Sam brought him home and I met him for the first time.
He doesn’t have a name yet. And… I have no say whatsoever as to what his name will be. He’s Sam’s. A pit bull with a good lineage (the father’s a champion). She bought him with her savings (she’s totally broke now) so she decides on his name. I kinda like “Brad” though… You know, Brad the pit bull. 
Cute little rascal… and I don’t even like dogs.

Hahaha, akala ko talagang me boyfriend na si Sam. AT excited pa si Speedy ha? We also have a new puppy and it’s the first time that we are having one. Mine has been separated from the mom early so has not yet been trained as regards biting inhibition. Ayun, pag na-e excite, nangangagat pa. HIndi pa marunong mag control. Kami namang mag-asawa, parang nagkaron ulit ng bagong bunso.
I think you have to train hm properly at balita ko, mabangis ang pitbull.

Tito Rolly, re bunso. Exactly the reaction of Speedy. Dog person talaga sya while I will always be a cat person. At working dog yan ha. The father pulled an L300 in a dog show. Only one other pit bull beat him — and he pulled a Pajero.

Second vote for Brad Pitbull! (Ay,ay,ay, Sam might kill me!) I think it’s cute! And what do you know, at Bark Slope Dog Boutique, they’re actually selling a cotton tank that says “Looking for Brad Pitbull.” (http://www.barkslope.com/brad-pitbull-tee.html) Sam’s dog’s girlfriend (when he gets one) will look really cute in it.

Wow, another dog owner. I am a proud dog owner too pero mini dachsie nga lang. Not to discourage Sam pero ang daming incidents dito ng mga pit bulls na hindi pinapatawad pati amo so sabihin mo kay Sam na she has to be firm in training her dog. And she also has to be careful in handling her dog. Sa Vancouver, we are so close to banning people from owning pit bulls.

i’m sorry for being a killjoy (i feel bad to tell you this) pero… same here. ang dami na ring incidents dito - the last victim was a 2 year old boy. basta ganoon lang, walang rason basta na lang syang a-attack. pit bull in france is considered dangerous and eventually, ipagbabawal.

Ting and Mavic, yes, we’ve read up. And it’s good that the guy Sam bought the dog from is a serious Pit Bull breeder who prepped her well. Wrong upbringing can make a Pit Bull vicious that’s why we want to do it right from day one. Speedy and I are reading up on Pit Bulls para better safe than sorry.

In the 90s, there was this popular tv cartoon show, (which my kids and their playmates in the neighborhood loved to watch), I already forgot the title though… where there’s a dog named Patras.
At the height of Patras’ popularity, my neighbor’s kid was given a new dog and so he named it Patras.
One day, Patras was sleeping at the rear of the neighbor’s car - sa may gulong sa likuran. Lumabas ang tatay, sumakay sa kotse, at ini-start. The wife called on Patras to get away para hindi masagasaan. She called out; “Patras! Patras! Patras!” The husband thought his wife was telling him to make “atras” or back off. So, pinaatras nga niya ang kotse. Poor Patras. he was run over tuloy. He died. Kawawa naman yung aso. Funny and sad incident.

But seriously, you have to train him well. Pit bulls are known to have sudden tempers and they can attack anyone without reason.

Ang cute niya niya, brindle coat! Nice coat, big bone, big head. For the early months, expect a lot of chewed slippers and more. Ours even chewed the car’s left and right fenders. Seriously.
Ay you are gonna love him, makulit, malaro at matakaw. When we get another one, my daughter Trixie said she is gonna name him KILLER, as in “Killer, come here!” Our APBT names were Swoop (swooping the food, super lakas kumain), Reddy (super red nose) and the present is Sparky (like one of the characters in Lilo and Stitch, super kulit)
Sorry Consuelo, este, Connie, our APBT has preyed on 2 or 3 stray cats na. Maybe yours will have a better relationship with your cats since they would be living together naman. Ours is on the look out for cats and cat sounds outside. Ours were/are mild-mannered, hasn’t attacked a human, they even like to go near our younger children.

your pitbull is cute. pitbulls are actually mild mannered by nature i think..i used to be a pitbull fan. unfortunately, naiwan lahat sila sa ex ko when i broke up with him..grrr..
i think with regards pit bulls being “mabangis” or so they say, i think it would all depend on the training and exposure as well. kapag kasi trinain mo sila na mag attack ng humans, thats what they would generally do..yung kaisa isang pitbull ko ngayon, napakaamo.although deceiving talaga ang looks nila, sometimes because of the big head(if its show type) and generally the “notion” that they are “mabangis”

rj, hope your ex is taking care of them well. and yes, I think it’s the looks more than anything that give them a reputation. I think any dog — any breed, or any animanl for that matter — will attack if they feel that humans are threats.
