Bad case of gadget accessories lust
This is bad.
Taking the cue from a comment posted by Rhodora, I was going to write about sanitary napkins — wings or no wings — and I had completed an outline mentally while taking a shower (have I ever mentioned that some of my most inspired ideas were hatched in the bathroom?).
Then, the first newsletter from Ynzal arrived in my mailbox (I signed up a couple of days ago) and my mind wandered. I couldn’t focus enough to write about wings or no wings. Instead, I’m looking at :
1) A SeeThru hardcase for my MacBook (I like the blue one).
2) A silicone keyboard cover, also for my MacBook.
3) And a CushTop that I can use on the bed in lieu of my breakfast table.
I better go back to the wings-or-no-wings sanitary napkin issue.
A third of what’s been written about me is true, a third is half-true and the rest consists of drug-induced hallucinations. I suppose I’d better let me, rather than them, tell you

i have that silicone keyboard cover
wow sassy, i’m lusting after these accessories too, but after a year or so in really working and running my powerbook into the ground (it’s still holding up nicely) i’m thinking more along the lines of a complete cleaning, maintenance and refurbishing job, hahaha.
a note about the silicone keyboard cover, in non-airconditioned environments i’m wondering if having that in place affects the normal heat dissipation of the laptop since when i used one of those when my computer was still immaculately clean and new, i really felt that it prevented the laptop from ‘breathing’ normally. just my guess, though.
noemi, so, is it really useful?
ben, i thought about that too. but, shucks, the dust in the Philippines! especially now that it’s summer…
oh connie, if you write about wings or no wings, i could not relate and so maybe Annamanila (LOL)!!!
Hi, Connie.
The silicone cover is relly helpful because it catches dirt so they don’t get trapped between the keys of your keyboard. It also helps prevent the keys from fading.
My boss got the see thru hardcase and it’s sooo nice. And the best thing is – it’s scratch-proof!
P.S. did you get my email re Issue 13?
sexy mom, eh may daughters ka naman eh.
carol, ooohhh the lusting gets worse. LOL And yes I did get your e-mail. Sorry, wasn’t able to reply but I’ll meet my deadline.
yes, the dust is really the purpose for the silicon cover. but i’ve exposed my laptop to conditions which you wouldn’t normally work under, and it’s just testament to the ruggedness and reliability of the powerbook that it keeps on going. people would always keep telling me, ‘why don’t you take better care of your equipment?’ and to which i answer, ‘i paid for it, it had better work as the manufacturer claims, and if it fails the next sound you’ll hear will be the useless piece of crap shattering into a million pieces against a brick wall or flying out the window. you have to be judge, juror and executioner about these ‘things’. and that’s all they are. they can never be the human appendages as some people like to treat them. it’s just equipment. no love lost.
ben, i don’t even want to think about the kind of conditions you expose your computer too considering that your work takes you to ALL THOSE PLACES hehehe
sassy you should try editing pictures on a laptop while sitting next to the pilot’s seat in a chopper with headphones on while flying over the cordilleras, or sprinting back to manila from pangasinan through tarlac on the macarthur highway while sitting in the back seat of a car and doing photoshop, hahaha. but there are the moments of pure zen and bliss too, such as having your laptop positioned right next to a luscious, tasty breakfast spread of sweet pineapple and melon, eggs and toast with coffee in bukidnon, or punching words into a 3G cellphone answering email under a clear moonlit sky by the seaside in roxas city after feasting on fresh grilled prawns and seafood. all this means is that you mustn’t allow the technology to distract and blind you to your surroundings and that you always have to have time to take a deep breath of fresh air and taking in the indescribable beauty of this country.
you know, ben, classmates in UP LAw who could memorize the civil code while riding a bus have always amazed me. i never could read aboard a moving vehicle (except in an airplane). i don’t think i’d be able to work on a computer in a car or a chopper either. i can’t even manage more than a couple of text messages in the car. nahihilo ako.
