Antipolo Cathedral
These photos were taken in March 2005. My older daughter, Sam, was graduating from grade school and a baccalaureate mass was held in honor of the graduates. While waiting for the mass to begin, I went around taking photos.
The marker, with a short history, of the Antipolo Cathedral. It sounds all formal and everything but what is so special about the Antipolo Cathedral, really? Well, in the month of May every year, thousands of devotees make the pilgrimage to Antipolo to pay homage to the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora de la paz Y Buenviaje) mentioned in the marker.

The newly renovated altar of the Antipolo Cathedral. During the first couple of years since we moved to Antipolo, people would knock on the gate asking for donations for the church. Whether they were making legitimate donation seekers or using the name if the church, I didn’t. I don’t donate to the church–not for those reasons, anyway.

I took a lot of time photographing the sculptures of the Stations of the Cross. I think that’s dust on the crevices. They need cleaning.
Now this is really magnificent. A mounted sculpture depicting the arrival of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora de la paz Y Buenviaje). You can see where the sculpture has been damaged.
Outside the Cathedral, discovered while I was out smoking, was a hedge of tiny flowers. From a distance, they were rather negligible–too ordinary. But up close, they were magnificent.
