I didn’t know she was a blogger. She never put her URL in every time she posted a comment on my blog. I’m talking about Rhodora’s ‘Time and Tide’. I spent about 30 minutes reading her entries. As I read, a long-buried (abandoned even) idea was resurrected.
Early this year, I thought about forming a network of Pinoy mommy blogs. Why mommy blogs? Well, shared interests. I’m a mommy. But, more than that, if there is one sector of Filipino blogs that make sense, that would be the mommy blogs. Of course, there are other niche blogs that churn out relevant content. The photo bloggers are doing wonderfully; so are the Pinoy food bloggers and tech bloggers. But how political blogging in the Philippines has turned out has really become a disappointment. There was a time when political blogs made sense. But, these days, anyone who can quote some news report on some political issue labels his blog as a political blog.
Anyway, the idea about a mommy blogs network came after I decided to lie low on political blogging and start writing–again–about social issues that affect family and parents, including marriage and annulment. The plan was to turn one of my domains, mommytalks.com, into a group blog. I was going to invite mommy bloggers to contribute.
Then, I had second thoughts. I started to seriously doubt if I would have the time and the energy to play administrator. Plus, I also wondered if things would turn out the way I envisioned them. Group projects often divert into other directions as personalities and interests clash. Well, I’m rethinking the whole thing again. No group project though. But, perhaps, an aggregator of mommy blogs whose owners signify an interest to be so included. Or there can just be a list of, and links to, Pinoy mommy blogs.
Hmmm… the second alternative sounds better. A blog with the entries posted in alphabetical order. I’ll just keep adding entries as I come across more Pinoy mommy blogs. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. Good thing I have moved the contents of mommytalks.com back to houseonahill.net.

hi, sassy! thanks for citing me here.
i opened the pc early morning to compose a letter for my husband, and of course, before anything else, i proceeded blog hopping (while from the background, i heard hubby yakking….’unahin mo muna yung sulat na pinapagawa ko!.. blah blah.. haha!) then, i read this entry of yours, and i excitedly called him…’hey, sassy cited my blog here”… i let him read it, and, the undying ‘politico’ in him surfacing, said: “sabihin mo kay sassy, mag organize kayo ng party list group for housewives, siya ang representative nyo!
i almost got knocked off my seat, laughing! well, i don’t know how that “arrives” to you….. but what i know is i never liked politics…hehe…
with regard to this……” But, perhaps, an aggregator of mommy blogs whose owners signify an interest to be so included. Or there can just be a list of, and links to, Pinoy mommy blogs.” mmmm…. sounds good to me!
thanks again….

Yay, ayaw ko mag-politiko. Noooooo LOL
Pero yung project. Well, right after I posted this, I couldn’t sleep until I actually started it. Too excited. You can view it here. I’ll just move it on the main path when I have around 50 in the list.

Hi Connie! Some mommies who post regularly on the Parenting forum at Pinoyexchange.com have a shared blog, which unfortunately has the same name as jill\’s blog: http://momexchange.blogspot.com/

I posted here a few days ago but my comment disappeared
We’ve started another blog with the same name as Jill’s, unfortunately. Would love to be added to the list. http://momexchange.blogspot.com/

Hello! I just want to let you know that I always read your blogs and find them interesting, entertaining, and informative. If you don’t mind me asking, how do you juggle lawyering and mommy work? If you’ve blogged about this, well, I must have missed that out. I’m a home-based freelance website content writer, based in Davao City, Philippines. I have finished law school, but has to put on hold taking the bar exams due to successive pregnancies. =)
Anyways, have a nice day and keep on blogging! =)

Maying, hello.
Re juggling… I’m “retired” from lawyering. Actually, I retired when I became a mommy although I did resume my career when my kids entered grade school. Only for a few years though. I write full time, home-based. I like it much, much better.

I have a four-year old daughter. I also work full-time at a research institute here in Japan (my husband and I are both PhD holders). The Mommy blogs network is a great idea! I blog about many topics, including parenting, science experiments for kids, life in Japan. Raising one’s child in a different culture and environment has its ups and downs. Looking forward to reading blogs from other Pinoy moms out there.
Cheers!

I’ll add your blog to the list then, kathy.
