Waterless
It’s been a hell of a day. I woke up at around 9.30 a.m. to find out that the taps had been dry since 6.00 a.m. I sent the house helper to get some information from the subdivision’s security guard and she was told that repairs were ongoing. Water service was supposed to be restored by afternoon.
Okay, the two drums were full of stored water. Still, it was wiser not to do any laundry for the day. We’ve been through this shit last year and we know that it’s best to be frugal with the use of stored water.
When the clock hit three in the afternoon and the taps were still dry, I decided to call the only water delivery service I knew of. The water tanks were already out and they weren’t even sure if they could send one early tomorrow morning.
I sent the house helper to the subdivision’s security guard again. The news had gotten worse. The entire subdivision would be waterless for at least four days — and that’s the conservative estimate.
I didn’t cook dinner. I called up Speedy and asked him to buy food that wouldn’t require washing dishes. I also asked him to pass by the other water delivery services in the area and make arrangements. He brought home burgers and fries; the water delivery services were all closed for the night.
We’re on our last pail of water. After dinner, Speedy went out again — twice — until he found two water delivery services whose offices were still open. At least, he managed to get them to promise to deliver water tomorrow morning. If they don’t come, well, he got their phone numbers. We can pester them until they do.
Meanwhile, dear daughter Sam is not exactly panicky over the situation. Neither is dear daughter Alex. Last year’s disaster being fresh in their minds, they know that if we’re not able to get regular water supply until the darn pump and deep well are fixed, we will have to check into a hotel. They are actually hoping the damn things will remain busted until the school year opens. Not funny.
P.S. And that explains the new look of the blog. I kept myself occupied so I wouldn’t lose my temper.
A third of what’s been written about me is true, a third is half-true and the rest consists of drug-induced hallucinations. I suppose I’d better let me, rather than them, tell you

Is this because of all those pipe-laying projects?
The story we got was that a “poste” fell on the pump. There are diggings but they haven’t reached the subdivision yet. I don’t really know. I don’t even understand this thing about compulsory Manila Water service. Manila Water cannot have a monopoly on water. That is freaking unconstitutional. Anyone can have a deep well.
tht’s horrible. hope everything is fixed soon. i can imagine how frustrated you must be.
I am beyond frustration, dexie. I feel numb. Going to the bathroom is already a horrifying experience at this point.
as a mother and homemaker, not having water is horrible. I lived with a waterless situation for months when I was single but then it’s not that bad if I only think of myself. Have you thought of having a storage tank? Everyone in our village here in pasig has a water tank even if water pressure is adequate. Our water tank can last us 2 full days of normal usage . So if we know we have a waterless situation, i can cut it to extend the water supply to last 4 days.
i’d rather have no electricity than no water….
just blog hopping..
so sorry to hear that. i know what a nightmare it could be for you. sabe ko nga, di bale na walang kuryente wag lang tubig. hope everything gets better…
Who ever said you can’t have a deep well?!? I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think the government, or any agency for that matter, can lay claim to the planet’s aquiferous layer. Ang kapal naman. Well, at least some good came out of this horrible mess. Ganda ng bago mong layout. Obviously di ito pwede mangyari kung brownout naman ang tatama sa inyo. Hope you get your water supply back.
hi mommy connie. hay, i can totally relate. went through the same kind of hell last summer, and the summers before that. buti na lang this year, ok naman.
and your blog layout is really nice.
P.S. May tubig na kami!!!!
I just came from the bathroom and the sound of water flushing down in the toilet has never been sweeter hahahaha
Noemi, after the Milenyo disaster last year, Speedy and I agreed on that. Kaso, hayun, when the horror faded, na-postpone nang na-postpone. When we were living in the city, we had 2 overhead tanks.
Hi Jo. And @Nadia. in our area, when power goes out, water supply runs out after 2 hours. No choice.
Kongkong, I’m trying to verify that info. Manila Water (Ayala) has been laying pipes all over. And the rumor going on is that subdivisions will have to take down all the deep wells to become Manila Water customers. They’re saying it’s compulsory. Can’t find any legal document that says “compulsory”.
Lady Cess, o di ba? Kesa naman kunsumihin ko sarili ko? Summer passed without water problems; I hope they don’t start with the rainy season.
Haaaayyyy…. third world!
shucks Connie, those relentless diggings of Manila Water along Ortigas Extn is a total parusa. sana naman may magandang kahinatnan yan. i wonder bakit nga ba compulsory?
laging trapik dyan tuloy. sana matatapos yan. should we have known that early on, we could have passed the Hilltop route going to HEdCen to inquire about their preschool (by the way I got the contacts through a link from your site, thanks ha, i’ll be posting a kwento on this in a few days).
before those diggings we use to pass by that road when going to my parents’ home in Morong, pero these past weeks, we took the alternative route na lang.
connie, glad to hear you have water already. best to have a water tank for back up in case this happens again =)
dito in the office compound where we are living (guest house), we have a small water container which usually runs dry after 2 days. if there is no electricity (which is 60% of the time), water will not come in from the pipes outside, and if the company cannot send the truck to refill, usually 1 or two days kaming walang water. so i always keep 2 small drums of water here inside. it is fraustrating. especially if it happens during the weekends.
Feng, right in front of the entrance to Beverly Hills, may diggings din. And those started even before school ended for the summer. As in, ang tagal tagal na. In Antipolo proper, the roads aren’t that wide so you can just imagine — traffic has to be orchestrated because most times, one way lang pwede.
Re HedCen, so are you going to be a HedCen mommy too?
Smarie, no electricity 60% of the time? My goodness! Dito within minutes from the power outage, I’m on the phone reporting to Meralco. And I don’t let up until they fix it. And hirap nyan.
On a somewhat related note, our shop has been without DSL for a week, because someone saw fit to steal the cables from our entire subdv. Unbelievable.
I hear those cables are fast moving goods.
ganda naman ng “new look”…. badtrip talaga pag walang tubig…ok lang walang kuryente, wag lang tubig, unless sa tabi ka ng ilog nakatira.
Hay Naku Ate Connie,
I felt your pain. I’m glad you have your water back. I also experienced being waterless when I was in Cavite. I was living in a subdivsion and the water pump broke down leaving us waterless for more than 2 weeks! I had to go and fetch water before I can take a ’shower’ in the morning and evening. A big subdivision not having a back-up pump is stupid.
Pagawa na kayo ng tangke para may back-up kung sakaling masira ulit.
hey nice new look
I always dread not having enough water. When I was in UPLB, I have a massive drum for my needs. When I lived in Pasig, I brought the drum with me!
Thanks, Brenda.
O, di ba, better to be creative and productive rather than have tantrums?
KK, two weeks? Hindi ko kaya yun. The one waterless week during Milenyo last year had us packing off to a hotel. Two weeks… palagay ko mag-a-amuck na ako nun.
Auee, LOL at least you didn’t need to bring it to the UK. I’m sure you don’t have water problems there.
connie,Im planning to buy a lot there in beverly hills and build a MODEST house for my family. What can you say about the subdivision? With the waterless days you’re having in BHS,i think i’ll back out with my plans. What are the good things happening there at BHS?
peachie, the whole of antipolo will soon have manila water service. hopefully, no more waterless days. main pipes had been laid along ortigas ave. ext., but not inside Beverly yet.
