A few days ago, I saw singer Regine Velasquez on TV airing some “gripes” against those who criticized her Twenty concert. She said she wouldn’t feel so bad IF the critics had bothered watching the concert before lambasting it, or something to that effect.
I was curious. When I caught the televised concert while waiting for [...]

Back when I was in the College of Law, Tears for Fears hit the international music scene. Music videos, the medium that would catapult Madonna to stardom, was a new phenomenon and it was through them that I was introduced to the music of two ex-mental patients (or so I heard; Wikipedia refers to it [...]

We’ve been planning a few days vacation in time with the kids’ sem break and I’ve been scouring the web for the past couple of hours looking for houses for rent in the Nasugbu area. Although the original plan was three days and two nights in Tagaytay, what’s the harm in considering other locations, right? [...]

Don’t know if you felt it, but we just experienced a not-too-mild earthquake here in the suburb of Metro Manila. Birthday dinner is over, birthcake cake has been cut, we’re enjoying a bottle of merlot and re-watching ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and I started swaying on the couch. Our 12-year-old daughter Alex came out of [...]

The TV advert shows [...]

FIRST, a confession. I don’t like ornamental food–those made to look good to compensate for what they lack in flavor. I prefer real food. Real grub–the kind you can dig into and enjoy without ceremony. Just like allowing the senses to [...]

Dill is an herb. GardenGuides.com says the botanical name is Anethum graveolens while Botanical.com says it is Peucedanum graveolens. Whatever. Dill is so easy to grow. Sturdy too–mine survived typhoon Milenyo.
Dill flowers are small and white. They don’t usually droop like they do in the photos but these were taken after a downpour. They fly… [...]

I’m pondering on the nature versus nurture thing again. Siblings raised in the same household, by the same parents and with the same set of rules… well, one would think they’d have more than a few things in common. I have two daughters–Sam, 14, and Alex, 12–and their similarities and differences just amaze me.
They do [...]

It rained while I was cooking pasta for lunch. Five minutes after the rain stops is always the perfect time to take photos of the flowers in the garden.
If you want to see the ants up close, click the links to pages 2 and 3.
